My Morning Routine Inside...

What is your morning routine?

I used to think there was a perfect morning routine that you needed to have in order to reach your maximum potential and success. I thought it was the most important key to success and have read many books from the experts in this field.

Then I realized, there’s no set routine that’s going to set you up for success.

You don’t need to get up at 5 a.m. every morning, you don’t need to exercise immediately upon waking up or do any of the other things that people recommend first thing in the morning.

What I’ve realized is there is no one-size-fits-all morning routine.

You get to structure your morning in the way that best suits you.

When I quit working in the corporate world, I decided I was never going to wake up to an alarm ever again. (That wasn’t totally realistic). Then, I began to feel guilty that I was sleeping in and I wasn’t available to check e-mails and pick up my phone at exactly 8 a.m when the rest of the world started working..

I tried all times to start work, work-out, meditate, etc. and it wasn’t until I let go of all the expectations of others and how they did things, that I created my own routine that works for me.

My routine is different in the summer than it is in the winter, because of the climate that I live in.

I also love flexibility, so my morning routine is not super structured.

I have found that I need to start my day in a quiet, peaceful environment. I love to journal so I usually do that while I’m sipping coffee. While I’m journaling, my todo list is created or I’m inspired to write some content or I have creative ideas.

From there, it just depends on what I have scheduled that day.

In the summer I love to golf and do that or any physical or outdoor activity very early in the morning to avoid being outside in the 120 degree temperatures we have.

In the winter, it’s dark until almost 8 a.m. so I usually sleep longer and plan my physical and outdoor activities for the afternoon.

This is what works for me. It has evolved and keeps me in the mindset that sets me up for success.
